Join us for a special screening of award-winning documentary Franklin (2022), including a sneak preview of yet-to-be-released 2027 documentaryThe Last Giants about the Tasmanian forests.
The film will be followed by a Q&A, moderated by independent curator, organiser and producer Lana Nguyen, with documentary producer and Head of Business Affairs at international production company Media Stockade, Chris Kamen and your local member, Greens MP Gabrielle de Vietri.

About the film
Eighth-generation Tasmanian and environmentalist Oliver Cassidy embarks on a life-changing solo rafting trip down the beautiful yet remote Franklin River. His goal is to retrace his late father’s 14-day expedition to attend the blockade that helped save the World-Heritage listed national park from being destroyed by a huge hydroelectric dam project in the early 1980s.
Narrated by renowned Australian actor, Hugo Weaving, and featuring archival footage and interviews with key players such as Bob Brown and Uncle Jim Everett, the eight-year-long 'Franklin campaign' is revealed as the most significant environmental protest in Australia's history; an inspiring example of the power of non-violent direct action to bring about lasting change.
